The converter has to run your 12-volt house loads and charge the battery bank at the same time. Size for both.

Converter output covers house draw plus charging.

Assumptions and limits
  • Charge current estimated at 0.2C for LiFePO4 and 0.13C for AGM/lead-acid. These are common guideline rates; your battery manual's stated maximum and recommended charge current override them.
  • Output rounded up to the next 5 A.
  • Amperage alone does not make a converter lithium-compatible. Charge voltage profile and absorption behaviour decide that, and it is model-specific.
  • Does not size wiring or overcurrent protection for the converter run.
  • Does not account for alternator or solar charging contributions.

This is a planning estimate, not an engineering specification. Confirm every figure against the manual for your exact equipment. Wire gauge, fuse sizing, and breaker sizing are safety items. If you are not certain, have a qualified RV technician or electrician verify the install.
